Winter is coming — but your eFoil isn’t going anywhere (at least for now). Properly preparing your gear for the off-season ensures it stays in perfect condition and is ready to ride the moment summer hits.
Whether you’re storing your eFoil for a few months or all winter, this checklist will help you protect your battery, electronics, and carbon board from damage caused by salt, moisture, or cold.
✅ Get Your SiFly eFoil Ready for Winter – and Next Summer
1. Check Your Mast’s Motor Hours
Your mast tracks motor hours through the ESC controller, showing both total and remaining hours until your next service.
How to check:
- Open the SiFly mobile app
- Connect to the mast
- Go to Device Info
If you’re within 15 hours of the 100-hour service interval, it’s best to get your mast serviced now. You can either contact the closest service point directly or reach out to our customer support for directions.
2. Update Your Devices
We just rolled out a new software update: version 2.4-296 – make sure you’re running the latest version.
3. Disassemble and Rinse
Detach the mast and wings, rinse all components with fresh water, and apply Tef-Gel on both bolts and sleeves. This prevents corrosion and keeps screws from getting stuck over time.
4. Deep Clean Your Mast
- Rinse the mast
- Clean all connectors and lubricate them with dielectric grease
- Soak the motor in fresh water for 20 minutes to remove salt buildup
- Dry completely with a towel
5. Battery Check-Up
- Clean the connectors
- Charge to 70–80% (you can use Storage Charge mode)
- → Find this in the battery’s Main Settings (available on firmware 2.3-2940 or higher)
- Connect to WiFi for regular status sync
- → Once connected to a network, the battery sends daily status updates to the SiFly server. You can monitor remotely through the SiFly App or my.sifly.global. This helps you prevent low voltage or freezing temperatures.

6. Monthly Battery Reminders
Set a recurring reminder to check your battery monthly. Keep it above 0°C, ideally over 10°C, and store in a dry, well-ventilated place—away from fire and flammable materials.
7. Clean and Dry Your Carbon Board
Rinse off salt and dirt, dry the exterior and battery compartment, and store it in its bag.
Important: Moisture left inside the board can cause discoloration—and this is not covered by the warranty.
🛠️ Service Your Gear. Stay Ahead.
Taking care of your SiFly now means more time riding and less time fixing when summer returns.
